The TIGER has just arrived! Unlike the calm, stable and persevering OX, attributes of the Tiger are his incredible bravery and courage.
Various economic indicators continued to show improvement ahead during the OX year, albeit being subjected to occasional pullbacks. This is brought about by the efforts of government stabilisation measures such as the revise of the personal income tax, liberalisation measures on service sectors to attract foreign investors, resuscitation of manufacturing output by stabilising the global and domestic demand conditions etc.
I personally feel that recovery is still expected to be sluggish but accommodative into the TIGER year. This is due to the absence of inflationary expectations for the time being. However, being CAUTIOUS was the word in the OX year and will continue in the TIGER year. Eg: Banks are becoming more cautious in terms of loans, hence limiting the flow of funds to firms and many individuals. This impedes the process of an aggressive recovery.
The TIGER has come at the right time! This is the year that we need to embrace all challenges with bravery and courage as we walk through to a full recovery and victory in 2010!
